QUIC is an Educational Program of the Smith School of Business. A Board of Directors, consisting of faculty and staff at the Smith School of Business, was established to oversee the fund’s investments and provide guidance to the Counsel executive.

As of 2023, Morgan Stanley has partnered with QUIC to judge the QUIC Deal Competition, where QUIC Analysts have an opportunity to act as mock advisors on a recent real-world M&A transaction and present to Morgan Stanley Investment Banking Professionals.

QUIC is honoured to be a regular participant in the Bay Street Games, a fitness challenge between the top firms in Toronto to raise money for kids’ mental health.

Capitalize for Kids

Recent participating firms in our Education Program include Greylock Partners, Altas Partners, BDT & MSD Partners, Blackstone, General Atlantic, Bain & Co., Summit Partners, Sagard Holdings, Capricorn Investment Group, and more. These leading firms run workshops and information sessions for the QUIC Executive Team.

At the end of summer training, QUIC Analysts compete in an internal stock pitch competition judged by Investment Professionals from Burgundy Asset Management, a Toronto-based asset manager with over $30 billion AUM.

QUIC’s annual Stock Pitch Competition, sponsored by RBC, gives 1st and 2nd year students at Queen’s the opportunity to pitch a stock to RBC professionals in Toronto.

QUIC x CREO x OTD Students Helping Students Bursary

QUIC collaborated with Queen’s University, CREO, and OTD to come together for the common goal of helping students in need by supporting, developing, and introducing a new admissions bursary of $15,000 for new Queen’s students to apply to.

QUIC Movember

QUIC runs an official Movember campaign each November to raise money and awareness for men’s mental health issues. We have raised $3,000+ each year through our campaigns.

QUIC x QPCG Private Equity Panel

We annually co-host a private equity panel consisting of speakers from top-tier private equity firms including Altas, Blackstone, Brookfield, Imperial, and RedBird Capital Partners.

QUIC x WIC Intercollegiate Hedge Fund Competition

We annually co-host an intercollegiate stock pitch competition with a $3,000 prize pool featuring judges and speakers from hedge funds including Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital Global Equities, Cantillon Capital, Alua Capital, and Melvin Capital. Past competitors include students from Harvard University, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Berkeley, and more.

QUIC Credit Investing Panel

QUIC’s Credit Investing Panel featured a discussion around career advice, investing strategies, and recruiting opportunities in the current landscape led by senior professionals from The Carlyle Group, BC Partners and GSO Capital Partners (Blackstone).

QUIC x SBBA Diversity in Finance Panel

Having established this event in 2021, QUIC has collaborated on a Diversity in Finance Panel featuring a discussion with diverse senior professionals from TD Asset Management, Oxford Properties Group, and OMERS Private Equity.

QUIC x Burgundy Asset Management Women’s Investing Series

Established in 2019, QUIC regularly collaborates with professionals at Toronto-based Burgundy Asset Management to run a series of lessons on the basics of investing and finance for women in the Smith School of Business.
